PAT Testing (Portable Appliance Testing)

Covering all aspects of the Electricity at Work Regulations

The Electricity at Work Regulations state that all electrical systems and equipment used in the working environment should be in a safe condition. The Health & Safety Executive recommend that to comply with the regulations, an inspection and testing regime be implemented at all places of work.

Part of the PATS testing regime should include all portable appliances, defined as “any item of electrical equipment which has a plug top.”

Phoenix Precision Electric Limited have a team of highly skilled engineers who carry out the PATS testing and undertake any minor repairs on the spot. The test equipment used is the Metrohm 1900XI - a portable appliance tester which incorporates a soft test for I.T. equipment. The test results are printed out in the form of an asset register and test results along with the next test date.

We realise that not everyone has the expensive software required to download the results, so we have invested in a top-end bespoke package, "PatMan", which is available to our clients free of charge. An online demonstration of this is available below. We also have most other software packages onto which the results can be downloaded. The results format can be supplied in hard copy, CD, or electronically mailed.
